Pilot to scale project in Nigeria aims to increase malaria rapid test adoption while reducing unnecessary prescription of therapies.

Seattle, WA, July 16, 2024 – Audere, a digital health non-profit developing HealthPulse™ solutions to advance health equity, today announced the launch of a pilot in Nigeria in partnership with Elephant Healthcare. The pilot incorporates HealthPulse AI into ElephantOS, a sustainable suite of digital tools that connects every part of the public health system, from primary health centers in rural villages to busy urban hospitals. Through this pilot, Elephant and Audere expect to improve the accuracy of diagnosis for malaria, thereby helping to combat drug resistance and improving care for conditions commonly mistaken for malaria, such as typhoid.

Elephant partners with governments to digitize their health systems, providing solutions that manage patient care; guide clinicians; streamline billing; track inventory; and provide actionable insights, enabling governments to identify key cost savings, respond to disease outbreaks, and allocate resources where they are needed most. In this pilot in Kaduna and Niger States, ElephantOS leverages HealthPulse AI-powered interpretations of rapid diagnostic tests. Within ElephantOS clinicians are nudged through visual prompts, and a combination of financial and non financial incentives, to run a malaria rapid test in advance of providing treatment. Only patients that test positive, as confirmed by HealthPulse AI, are provided with treatment and confirmed cases are shared with the Nigerian government via Elephant’s real time dashboards.
