Audere Announces the Appointment of Dr. Bilal Mateen to Board of Directors
Extensive expertise advancing ethical and inclusive use of AI complements Audere’s board
Seattle, WA, April 9, 2024 – Audere, a digital health non-profit developing HealthPulse™ solutions to advance health equity, today announced the appointment of Dr. Bilal Mateen to its Board of Directors. Dr. Mateen is the Executive Director at Digital Square and brings extensive global digital health expertise to Audere.
At Digital Square, Dr. Mateen oversees a team of over 100 staff, across more than 20 countries, running implementation programmes focused on digital transformation of health systems in low-and-middle-income countries. In total, Dr. Mateen is the principal investigator in over $200 million worth of grants and contracts focused on digital health and AI. He is also a physician by training with an academic background in health-related applications of data science. Prior to joining Digital Square, he served as the Clinical Technology Lead and Senior Manager for Digital Technology at the Wellcome Trust, one of the world’s largest philanthropic foundations supporting science and health research. Dr. Mateen is deeply passionate about advancing ethical and inclusive applications of artificial intelligence. Along with his role at Digital Square, he continues to hold an honorary professorial appointment at University College London and a fellowship at the Alan Turing Institute (the UK’s National Institute for Data Science and AI).
